Nomination Details for The Yamazaki-Teiichi Prize

Eligible Prizewinners

Eligible for the Yamazaki-Teiichi Prize will be people who have achieved outstanding, creative results, with practical effect, by publishing theses, acquiring patents, or developing methods, technologies and the like and/or people with strong future potential for achieving such results.
An application for a candidate may include joint researchers and developers (totaling three people, in all) who made indispensable contributions to the creative results achieved. Please note that if an application includes additional people, it will still be considered as a single application.

Prizewinning Fields

The Yamazaki-Teiichi Prize will be awarded in the following four fields.

  1. Material
  2. Semiconductor and its applications to System, Information Technology, Electronics
  3. Measurement Science and Technology
  4. Biotechnology and Medical Science

Other Information on Eligibility and Prizes

  1. Candidates' nationalities will not be a factor in the awarding of prizes. Those whose achievements have been accomplished in Japan will be eligible.
  2. People who have applied in the past will be eligible to apply again, in the event that they have achieved further results and advances.
  3. People who have received research grants from the Foundation will also be eligible for recommendation as candidates for prizes.
  4. When an application involves multiple people, please describe the detailed contributions and achievements for each person on the application form.
  5. In completing the application form, please make it clear what is original and creative about the candidate's work, as compared with others, and how it will lead to major results and constitute a contribution. In addition, please provide relevant materials.
    Applications (including the recommender's evaluations) should be styled objectively.

Nomination Procedure

The Yamazaki-Teiichi Prize is accetable for recommendation by the other and Self Nomination is also acceptable.
Send all details with the nomination form to the secretariat to arrive during the following recommendation and application period.The references may be contacted by the Yamazaki-Teiichi Prize Steering Committee.

Recommendation and Application period

Annually from 15 on March to the end of April.

Selection Procedure

The nominations are reviewed and the winner selected by the Yamazaki-Teiichi Steering Committee, further approved by the MST Board of Directors to ensure strict and impartial selection.

The Award

Prizewinners in each field are awarded annually, hands each Laureate a diploma and cash award of ¥3,000,000 cash (about USD 30 thousands) per full Prize.

The Award Ceremony

The Award Ceremony for the Yamazaki-Teiichi Prize in Material,Semiconductor, AI, System, and Software , Measurement Science and Technology, Biological Science and Technology will be held at the Japan Academy (Ueno Park Taito-ku, Tokyo, Japan) in the memory of Teiichi Yamazaki around 20 on November every year.
